Japanese name: ヘメロカリス 薄化粧
Scientific name: Hemerocallis Usugesho

Hemerocallis Usugesho

[Overview]
A cultivar of Hemerocallis.
Plant height is about 60–70 cm.
The leaves are simple, linear, and grow from the base.
The flowers are borne in two-branched cymes at the tips of long flower stalks. They are pale pink, about 10 cm across, with 6 tepals.
Each flower opens in the morning and wilts by evening, lasting only a day, but the flowers open one after another.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by division.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained site rich in organic matter.
It is hardy, and when planted in a garden it grows well even if left alone.
Water thoroughly when the soil surface dries.
In addition to base fertilizer, apply slow-release fertilizer once in March–April and once in September–October.
Remove spent flowers promptly after flowering.
When the underground stems become crowded, the plant declines from the center, so divide it in that case.
Aphids can occur.
