About
About 3,000 maple trees turn red from the approach path along the Tomoe River to the grounds of Kojaku-ji Temple. They are said to have originated with trees planted by the priest Sanei of Kojaku-ji in Kan'ei 11 (1634). In spring, katakuri (Japanese dogtooth violet) flowers are at their best from mid-March to early April.
