[Overview]
A biennial 30–80 cm tall, found in rice paddies, ditches and similar places.
The stem branches freely in the upper part and sometimes produces roots from the lower nodes.
There are basal leaves and stem leaves; the basal leaves are 1–4 cm long and 1–5 cm wide, palmately divided into 3–5 lobes.
The petioles of the basal leaves are 3–15 cm long.
The stem leaves are alternate and 3-lobed.
Several flowers are borne in a cyme-like arrangement at the stem tips; they are yellow, 5-petaled, and 0.4–0.8 cm across.
The fruit is an achene, and many gather together in an elliptical cluster.
