Lysimachia procumbens (golden globes)

Japanese name: リシマキア プロクンベンス
Scientific name: Lysimachia procumbens

Lysimachia procumbens

[Overview]
An evergreen perennial.
The stems creep along the ground and spread.
The leaves are simple and opposite, elliptic to ovate, with entire margins.
Spherical inflorescences emerge from the upper leaf axils of the stem and bear yellow flowers about 2 cm across.
The corolla is 5-lobed and cup-shaped.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by division or by stem-tip cuttings.
It prefers sun to partial shade and a fertile soil that is well drained yet retains water.
The base of the plant can become stuffy and die in summer heat and humidity, so choose a well-ventilated place.
It likes slightly moist places, so take care that it does not dry out, and water thoroughly when the soil surface dries.
In addition to base fertilizer, in spring apply slow-release fertilizer placed on the soil or give diluted liquid fertilizer.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
