Bromus diandrus

[Overview]
An annual or biennial 30–80 cm tall.
The leaves are linear, 5–20 cm long and 0.3–1 cm wide, with coarse hairs on both sides.
The leaf sheaths are densely covered with spreading hairs.
The leaf sheaths have a membranous ligule 0.2–0.5 cm long.
A panicle 10–20 cm long is produced, and its tip hangs down.
The culm just below the inflorescence is hairy.
It bears 2–5 branches 2–8 cm long, and each branch bears spikelets.
The spikelets are 2.5–7 cm long, consist of 4–8 florets, and are flattened.
The first glume is 1.5–2 cm long and the second glume is 2–3.5 cm long; both are linear and pointed at the tip.
The palea is clearly shorter than the lemma.
The lemma is linear-lanceolate, 2.5–3 cm long, with a tip split in two, from between which an awn 3–6 cm long emerges.

It is a naturalized plant recorded in the early 1900s.
