Campanula poscharskyana

Campanula poscharskyana (Serbian bellflower, "Hoshigikyo")

Japanese name: ホシギキョウ (星桔梗)
Scientific name: Campanula poscharskyana

Campanula poscharskyana

[Overview]
A perennial 10–25 cm tall.
The base of the stem creeps along the ground and the upper part rises upright.
The leaves are simple and alternate, heart-shaped, about 2.5–4 cm long, with serrated margins.
They have long petioles.
Many flowers are borne in a panicle; they open in a star shape, 2–3 cm across, and are pale bluish purple.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate from seed, by division, or by shoot cuttings.
It dislikes heat and humidity.
It prefers a well-drained, well-ventilated place in sun to partial shade, out of the afternoon sun.
For potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries; for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient unless a spell of sunny weather makes the soil severely dry.
In spring to autumn, give diluted liquid fertilizer.
Pests seen include thrips and aphids.
