[Overview]
An annual or biennial found where water flows, such as irrigation channels and beside small streams in wetlands.

There are 2–6 pairs of lateral lobes; each lobe is reniform to round, and the terminal lobe is about the same size as the lateral lobes or slightly larger.
On leaves in the middle of the stem, the terminal lobe often fuses at the base with the uppermost lateral lobes.
The flowers are borne in racemes and are white with 4 petals.
The petals are obovate, about 4 mm long.
There are 6 stamens (rarely 4).
