Cerasus ×tschonoskii nothovar. pseudoverecunda ("Kasumiokuchojizakura")

Japanese name: カスミオクチョウジザクラ (霞奥丁字桜)
Scientific name: Cerasus ×tschonoskii nothovar. pseudoverecunda

[Overview]
A deciduous tree presumed to be a hybrid of Oku-choji-zakura and Kasumi-zakura, with characteristics intermediate between the two.

[History]
It was discovered on Mt. Omine in Shibata (formerly Kajikawa Village), Niigata.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by cuttings or grafting.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained site.
If it becomes a problem by growing into a large tree in a garden, it is good to control its size by restricting the space available to the roots with a fabric pot.
While it is a young tree, protect it from frost by spreading straw around the base, for example.
Also, it is better not to cut branches needlessly if there is no need.
It has many pests and diseases, so care is needed.
