Chrysosplenium macrostemon var. atrandrum

[Overview]
A perennial found in somewhat dark places along streams in the mountains.
The whole plant is tinged with brown to purplish brown.
The stolons extend after flowering.
The leaves are of two kinds: basal leaves and stem leaves borne on the flower stalk; the basal leaves are broadly ovate to narrowly ovate, and the stem leaves are ovate-round to elliptic.
The leaves are 0.5–5 cm long, with 4–9 teeth on the margin.
The upper surface of the leaves usually has grayish-white markings.
The leaves have petioles.
The flower stalk is 3–15 cm tall.
The flower stalk bears 1–2 pairs of leaves and is hairless except at the leaf axils.
A cyme is produced at the tip of the flower stalk.
The inflorescence has leaf-like bracts; the lower bracts are dark green and elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, and the upper bracts are yellow and ovate.
The flowers are 3–4.5 mm across and have no petals; the calyx is dark purplish brown to pale green and erect.
There are usually 4 stamens, and the anthers are dark red just before they split open.
The filaments, disc, style and ovary are often tinged with reddish purple.
The fruit is a capsule that splits open when ripe, and many seeds show.
The seeds are elliptic to ovate.
