Japanese name: ハナネコノメ (花猫目)
Scientific name: Chrysosplenium album var. stamineum

Chrysosplenium album var. stamineum

[Overview]
A perennial found in moist places along streams in forests.
The whole plant is sparsely covered with soft white hairs.
Stolons extend after flowering.
The leaves are of two kinds, basal leaves and stem leaves borne on the flower stalk; the basal leaves have withered by the time of flowering.
The stem leaves are simple and opposite, fan-shaped-round to round-reniform, 0.2–1 cm long and 0.3–1.6 cm wide, with 3–7 semicircular teeth on the upper margin.
The leaf stalks are about 0.3–3 cm long.
The flower stalk grows 5–10 cm tall.
The flower stalk is tinged with dark purple and bears 1–2 pairs of leaves.
A cyme is borne at the tip of the flower stalk.
The flowers are 3–5 mm across, with no petals and a white, upright calyx.
The calyx lobes are ovate with rounded tips and turn pale green after flowering.
There are 8 stamens, which stand upright at flowering and are longer than the calyx lobes; the anthers are dark red before dehiscence.
The fruit is a capsule whose tip forms a beak that projects from the calyx; when ripe it splits open and many seeds show.
The seeds are ovate.
