[Overview]
An evergreen perennial often seen in slightly moist shade along roadsides and similar places.
The stems branch often, creep along the ground, and root at the nodes, extending to about 1 m long.
The upper part of the stem stands up.
The leaves are alternate in two rows, elliptic to lanceolate, 3–6 cm long and 1–3 cm wide, fleshy, and green on the underside as well.
The leaf margins are entire and bear fine hairs.
The leaf base forms a tubular sheath that clasps the stem.
The margin of the leaf sheath bears white hairs.
A cyme is produced at the stem tip, and the inflorescence is enclosed by 2 bracts.
The flowers are white, three-petaled, about 1.5 cm across.
There are 6 stamens, and the filaments are densely covered with white hairs.
The sepals are green, shorter than the petals, and hairy on the outside.
The fruit is a capsule.
