Neottia cordata

[Overview]
A perennial 10–20 cm tall, found in coniferous forests in the subarctic to cool-temperate zones.
The stem is slender and erect.
Only foliage leaves are present; two leaves are borne in an opposite arrangement around the middle of the stem, triangular-reniform, 1–2 cm in both length and width, with blunt tips, hairless, and with shallowly heart-shaped bases.
A raceme bears 4–10 small green flowers sparsely.
The sepals are narrowly oblong-elliptic and the lateral petals narrowly ovate, almost the same length.
The lip is wedge-shaped with a 2-lobed tip whose lobes are long, slender, and pointed, and the base has a pair of ear-shaped lobes.
The fruit is a capsule.
