[Overview]
A perennial 10–20 cm tall, found in cool-temperate forests.
The stem is erect.
There are two kinds of leaves, foliage leaves and scale leaves.
Two foliage leaves grow at ground level in a nearly opposite arrangement; each is triangular-ovate, 1–3 cm long and 1–3 cm wide, with a blunt tip, and is bluish green with whitish longitudinal markings.
Four to ten scale leaves are sparsely arranged alternately; they are narrowly ovate, 0.2–0.5 cm long, with pointed tips.
A raceme bears 5–20 small green flowers sparsely.
The sepals are oblong-lanceolate and the lateral petals are linear, and they are about the same length.
The lip is long obovate with a 2-lobed tip, narrowing toward the base.
The bracts are almost the same shape as the scale leaves.
The fruit is a capsule.
