Erigeron bellioides (bellorita, "Kokesenbongikumodoki")

Japanese name: コケセンボンギクモドキ (苔千本菊擬)
Scientific name: Erigeron bellioides

[Overview]
An annual about 5 cm tall.
It has an ascending rhizome 1–3 cm long, covered with soft hairs.
There are basal leaves and leaves alternate on the flower stalk; the basal leaves form many rosettes, are about 3 cm long and wide, flattened round to broadly ovate, and the base narrows abruptly into a winged leaf stalk.
The leaf stalk is usually longer than the blade.
The leaf margin is entire or has a few indistinct teeth.
Stem leaves are few, small, obovate to oblong, and stalkless.
One to three small white flower heads are borne at the tip of the slender flower stalk, and the involucre is hemispherical, about 0.5 cm across.
The involucral bracts are in two rows, linear with pointed tips, and hairy.
The fruit is an achene with a pappus tinged with pale brown.

[History]
It has been confirmed as naturalized in Okinawa.
