In regions without frost it is said to be able to overwinter outdoors, but it is safer to keep it in a bright place indoors where the temperature can be held at 5°C or above in winter.
It prefers a sunny location and sandy soil.
For potted plants, from spring to autumn water thoroughly when the soil surface dries, and in winter keep it on the dry side.
From spring to autumn, apply slow-release chemical fertilizer on the soil or give liquid fertilizer.
Pests include aphids and spider mites.
