A short raceme 2–3 cm long at the branch tip bears about 10 flowers that open facing downward.
The corolla is bell-shaped, 0.8–1 cm long; the tip is cream-colored with red vertical streaks, and the upper part is pale pink.
The corolla is shallowly 5-lobed, and the lobe tips are rounded.
The fruit is a capsule held upward.
[Cultivation]
Propagate by cuttings.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained site.
For potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries; for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient unless sunny weather continues in summer and the soil becomes dry.
If it dries out in early summer to summer, when flower buds are formed, it may not flower the following year, so take particular care against dryness during this period.
Apply slow-release fertilizer around the base twice, in spring and autumn.
Do not prune; grow it in its natural form.
Pests and diseases include scale insects and spider mites.
