Japanese name: ノミノフスマ (蚤衾)
Scientific name: Stellaria uliginosa var. undulata

Stellaria uliginosa var. undulata

[Overview]
A biennial 5–30 cm tall, found in fields, rice paddies, roadsides and similar places.
The stems branch from the lower part and spread so as to cover the ground.
The stems are soft and hairless.
Leaves are simple and opposite, oblong with a pointed tip, 8–20 mm long, and hairless on both surfaces.
Cymes are borne at the stem tips and leaf axils.
The flowers are white with 5 petals, about 8 mm across, but because each petal is deeply split in two, they look as if they have 10 petals.
There are 5–7 stamens.
The fruit is an elliptical capsule.
The seeds are black and reniform-round, 0.5–0.7 mm across, with blunt projections.
