Stellaria pterosperma ("Ezoiwatsumekusa")

Japanese name: エゾイワツメクサ (蝦夷岩爪草)
Scientific name: Stellaria pterosperma

[Overview]
A perennial 5–20 cm tall, found only in the Daisetsuzan range of Hokkaido, growing on rocky and gravelly ground in the alpine zone.
The stems creep along the ground, branch from the lower part, and spread by sending out roots from the nodes that touch the ground.
The stems are hairless.
Leaves are simple and opposite, linear, 1–2 cm long and 0.1–0.2 cm wide, with marginal hairs from the base to the middle, and the leaf texture is somewhat thick.
Cymes at the stem tips and leaf axils bear 1–3 flowers.
The flowers are white with 5 petals, about 1.5 cm across, but because each petal is deeply split in two, they look as if they have 10 petals.
There are 10 stamens.
The fruit is an ovate-elliptical capsule.
The seeds have a broad wing around the edge.
