Scientific name: Setaria viridis var. minor f. misera

Setaria viridis var. minor f. misera

[Overview]
An annual 20–70 cm tall, found in sunny grasslands and along roadsides.
The leaves, leaf sheaths and stems are often tinged with purple.
The stem often branches at the base.
The leaves are lanceolate, 10–20 cm long and about 2 cm wide.
An erect, cylindrical inflorescence 2–5 cm long is borne at the stem tip.
The bristles of the inflorescence are tinged with purple, so the inflorescence looks purple.
The inflorescence bears spikelets densely, and the spikelets are 2–3 mm long.
The second glume is almost as long as the spikelet, so the lemma of the second floret is not visible.
