Yucca gloriosa

[Overview]
An evergreen shrub 0.5–2.5 m tall.
The leaves are alternate and form a rosette at the top of the trunk, appearing as many leaves radiating outward.
The leaves are sword-shaped, 60–75 cm long and about 5 cm wide, with needle-like tips.
The leaves are thick and hard.
A panicle at the tip of a flower stalk 1–2 m tall bears many flowers.
The flowers are creamy white, bell-shaped, about 10 cm across, with 6 petals, and face downward.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by division or cuttings.
It can overwinter outdoors except in cold regions.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained location.
It does better on the dry side, and rainfall is sufficient.
If organic fertilizer with a small amount of lime is applied as a base fertilizer, no further fertilizing is a problem for several years.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
