Ixeridium transnokoense ("Miyamanigana")

Japanese name: ミヤマニガナ (深山苦菜)
Scientific name: Ixeridium transnokoense

[Overview]
A perennial 10–20 cm tall, found in alpine grasslands.
The stem is slender, rising singly or in small numbers, and often branches from the lower half.
There are basal leaves and stem leaves; the basal leaves remain at flowering, are 2–9 cm long and 0.3–0.8 cm wide, narrowly oblong to linear-oblong, with entire margins or a few teeth, and the base gradually narrows into a stalk-like form and slightly clasps the stem.
One to three leaves are borne alternately on the stem, and they are linear-oblong.
Several flower heads form corymbs at the stem tip.
The flower heads are yellow and consist of 5–6 ray flowers, whose tips have fine notches.
The fruit is an achene with a pappus.
