Boronia

Boronia (genus)

Japanese name: ボロニア
Scientific name: Boronia

Boronia

[Overview]
A much-branched evergreen shrub.
The branches and leaves have glandular dots and are fragrant.
The leaves are simple or compound and opposite.
The flowers have 4 petals and 8 stamens.

[Cultivation]
Propagate from seed or by cuttings.
It can overwinter outdoors in regions without frost.
It prefers a sunny site with well-drained, acidic soil.
Direct summer sun can scorch the leaves, and dryness can kill the plant, so move potted plants to an airy spot in partial shade.
If bringing potted plants indoors in winter, place them in a sunny spot out of the draft of heaters, and mist the leaves from time to time.
Take care not to let it dry out: for potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries; for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient except in summer.
Apply base fertilizer, and place slow-release fertilizer on the soil during the flowering period.
Spider mites can occur.
