Japanese name: ジュウニキランソウ (十二金瘡小草)

Ajuga × mixta

A natural hybrid between Juni-hitoe and Kiran-sou, intermediate in form between the two.
It is found relatively often in areas where both parents grow together.
The whole plant is covered with many white hairs.
The stems radiate outward, with the bases creeping along the ground and the tips often rising obliquely.
The leaves are opposite, oblong-spatulate, with large wavy teeth with rounded tips on the margin.
The flowers are borne in racemes at the stem tips or in the leaf axils, and are often pale purple.
The flowers are lipped, about 1 cm long, with the upper lip 2-lobed and the lower lip 3-lobed with a large central lobe.
