Lindernia anagallidea ("Himeamerikaazena")

Japanese name: ヒメアメリカアゼナ
Scientific name: Lindernia anagallidea

[Overview]
An annual 15–25 cm tall, found in damp places such as riverbeds and rice paddy banks.
The stem is hairless and sparsely branched.
The leaves are simple and opposite, lanceolate to oblong, about 0.5–1.5 cm long and 0.2–0.8 cm wide, with a pointed tip and a rounded to wedge-shaped base.
The leaves have 3 parallel veins, are hairless on both surfaces, and have 1–2 pairs of small teeth on the margin.
There is no leaf stalk, or the leaves on the lower part of the stem have an indistinct stalk.
The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils on the upper part of the stem, and the flower stalk is at least 1.2 times as long as the leaf.
The flowers are very pale purple and two-lipped; the upper lip is shallowly 2-lobed and the lower lip is 3-lobed.
The calyx is 5-lobed almost to the base, and the lobes are narrowly lanceolate, 0.3 cm long, with pointed tips.
The fruit is an elliptic capsule longer than the calyx lobes.
