Japanese name: シロバナオオイワカガミ (白花大岩鏡)
Scientific name: Schizocodon soldanelloides var. magnus f. niveus

[Overview]
An evergreen perennial 5–10 cm tall, found on the floor of beech forests in heavy-snow regions.
The stem is slender and creeps along the ground.
The leaves are simple and clustered, round, 8–12 cm in both length and width, with a glossy surface.
The leaf margin has many pointed teeth.
It has long petioles.
A raceme at the tip of the flower stalk bears 1–5 nodding flowers.
The flowers are white; the corolla is 5-lobed, and the edges of the lobes are finely divided into threads.
The fruit is a spherical capsule.

[Cultivation]
It prefers well-drained soil.
From autumn to spring, place it in a sunny spot; it is weak against heat, so in summer place it in cool, airy partial shade.
Water thoroughly when the soil surface dries.
In addition to basal fertilizer, apply slow-release chemical fertilizer in autumn.
