Scientific name: Corydalis lineariloba var. lineariloba

Corydalis lineariloba var. lineariloba

[Overview]
A perennial 10–20 cm tall, growing along streams and in woods and grasslands.
It has a round tuber underground.
A single flower stem emerges from the tuber.
One of the leaves on the flower stem is a scale leaf.
Axillary buds form on the scale leaf and grow into small corms.
The leaves are usually 2–3 times ternately compound, and the number and shape of the leaflets are highly variable.
A raceme at the stem tip bears several flowers.
The flowers are 1.5–2.5 cm long and reddish purple to bluish purple.
There are 4 petals, but the upper one is longer than the others and has a long spur.
At the base of each pedicel there is a bract with teeth or notches.
The fruit is a broadly lanceolate to narrowly ovate capsule, 1–1.5 cm long and 0.4–0.8 cm wide.
The seeds have no small projections and are smooth.
The seeds have an appendage (elaiosome) that ants like, and they are carried and dispersed by ants.

[Uses]
Although toxic, the tuber is used medicinally.
