Peristylus iyoensis ("Iyotonbo")

Japanese name: イヨトンボ (伊予蜻蛉)
Scientific name: Peristylus iyoensis

[Overview]
A perennial 10–25 cm tall, found among the grasses of damp fields.
It has an oblong tuber 3 cm long underground, and the stem is erect.
Five to nine leaves form a rosette; they are broadly oblanceolate, 3–7 cm long and 1–2 cm wide, with entire margins.
Several stem leaves are produced, but they are small, pressed against the stem and inconspicuous.
The upper part of a raceme 4–5 cm long bears 5–12 flowers rather densely.
The flowers are yellowish green, 5–7 mm across, and the dorsal sepal and lateral petals join to form a hood.
The lip is 3-lobed at the base, and the side lobes become thread-like.
It has a short cylindrical spur 6 mm long.
The sepals have three veins.
