Dryopteris lunanensis ("Omineiwahego")

Japanese name: オオミネイワヘゴ (大峰岩杪羅)
Scientific name: Dryopteris lunanensis

[Overview]
An evergreen fern growing on mountain slopes.
It has a massive, ascending rhizome and bears its leaves in tufts.
The scales on the leaf stalk are narrowly lanceolate and blackish brown, with small projections on the margin.
The frond is single-pinnately compound, with deeply incised pinnae that are shallowly to moderately lobed; at the base of the pinnae they are almost completely divided, and pinnules sometimes form.
There are at most 17 pairs of lateral pinnae, and the pinnae gradually become smaller toward the top and have no spiny hairs on the surface.
The blade is slightly longer than the leaf stalk.
The sori are arranged in one row on each side of the pinna midrib, close to it, and the indusium is round-kidney-shaped and almost entire.
