[Overview]
An evergreen fern that often forms colonies in damp places in woods in the mountains and along mountain streams.

The sori are borne on the lower half of the underside of the frond.
The spores contain chloroplasts and appear green.
Both surfaces of the frond are green and glossy, and if the sori are not present, the upper and lower sides look the same.
The stalk is 20–40 cm long, with dense brown scales at the base.
