Japanese name: ルズラ ニウェア
Scientific name: Luzula nivea

[Overview]
An evergreen perennial 45–85 cm tall, found in mountains in its native range.
There are basal leaves and leaves arranged alternately on the stem; both are linear, with many long white hairs on the margins.
The basal leaves are about 20–30 cm long and 0.3–0.4 cm wide.
Several head-like inflorescences are produced at the stem tip; the inflorescences are stalked, and each bears several densely packed flowers.
Linear bracts are attached at the base of the inflorescence.
There are 6 tepals, which are lanceolate and white and membranous.
The anthers are slightly longer than the filaments.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate mainly by division, but seed is also possible.
It prefers partial shade and well-drained soil.
For potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries; for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
If basal fertilizer is applied, no further fertilizing is particularly necessary.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
