Jamesbrittenia (genus)

Japanese name: ジェームズブリテニア
Scientific name: Jamesbrittenia

Jamesbrittenia

[Overview]
A perennial.
The stems usually branch freely and spread over the ground.
The leaves are opposite.
The corolla is 5-lobed.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by stem cuttings.
It can overwinter outdoors in regions without frost.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained site, but in midsummer it gets through the summer more easily if moved to a cool place in partial shade.
Take care not to overwater; for potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries, and for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
Apply a base fertilizer, and also place slow-release fertilizer on the soil in spring and autumn, making sure no fertilizer remains in midsummer.
Remove spent flowers frequently.
Also, cutting back during the flowering season produces side shoots and lets you enjoy the flowers repeatedly.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
