Cephalotaxus harringtonia ‘Fastigiata’

[Overview]
A cultivar of Inugaya (Cephalotaxus harringtonia).
An evergreen coniferous shrub 1–3 m tall.
It branches well, and the branches grow upward.
The leaves are arranged spirally, not in two rows as in Inugaya.
The leaves are linear with a short pointed tip, but they do not hurt when touched.
The upper surface of the leaves is deep green, and the underside has white stomatal bands.
It does not flower.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by cuttings.
It somewhat dislikes being transplanted.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained, fertile site with moderate moisture.
It is shade tolerant and can withstand about partial shade.
For potted plants, and for plants in the ground less than 2 years after planting, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries; for established plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
Apply organic fertilizer around the plant as fertilizer in winter.
If pruned hard, branches with leaves arranged in two rows like those of Inugaya may appear.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
