Leucospermum (genus, pincushion)

Japanese name: レウコスペルマム
Scientific name: Leucospermum

Leucospermum

[Overview]
An evergreen shrub or small tree.
The leaves are alternate, usually simple, thick and leathery.
Large head-like inflorescences appear in the leaf axils near the branch tips.
The flowers have no petals; the tubular perianth splits open and the pistil projects far out.

[Cultivation]
Propagate from seed or by cuttings.
Keeping the temperature at 10°C or above is safest for wintering, so bring potted plants indoors to a sunny place in winter.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained, well-ventilated place.
For potted plants, and for plants in the ground less than 2 years after planting, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries from spring to autumn, and water sparingly in winter.
For plants in the ground that have taken root, rainfall is sufficient.
Apply organic fertilizer around the plant as fertilizer in winter.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
