Convolvulus sabatius (ground blue-convolvulus)

Japanese name: コンボルブルス サバティウス
Scientific name: Convolvulus sabatius

Convolvulus sabatius

[Overview]
An evergreen perennial 15–20 cm tall.
The stems creep along the ground and become woody at the base.
The leaves are simple and alternate, oblong to broadly ovate, 3 cm long.
The flowers are borne in the leaf axils; the corolla is funnel-shaped, 1.5–2.5 cm across, and wisteria blue.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate from seed or by bud cuttings.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained, well-ventilated place.
It has a taproot and dislikes being transplanted.
Provide protection from the cold in cold regions.
It dislikes heat and humidity, so it is better kept on the dry side; for potted plants, water after the soil has dried, and for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
In spring and autumn, place slow-release fertilizer on the soil, making sure no fertilizer remains in midsummer.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
