Gloriosa

[Overview]
A semi-climbing perennial.
It has a tuber-like bulb underground.
The leaves are simple, opposite or in whorls of three, and climb other objects by tendrils at the leaf tips.
The flowers are borne singly at the ends of long flower stalks arising from the leaf axils, and face downward.
There are 6 tepals, which are strongly reflexed and have wavy margins.
There are 6 stamens.
The style of the pistil bends at a right angle and extends horizontally.
The fruit is a capsule.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by dividing the bulbs.
It prefers sunny, well-drained, moisture-retentive, fertile soil.
For potted plants, water when the soil surface dries; for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
Apply organic fertilizer as a base fertilizer, and apply slow-release fertilizer during the growing season.
Set up stakes and guide the tendrils onto them.
When the leaves turn yellow, dig up the bulbs, dry them in the shade, and store them in a place where they will not freeze.
Virus disease can occur.
