Cymbopogon martini (palmarosa)

Japanese name: パルマローザ
Scientific name: Cymbopogon martini

[Overview]
A large perennial growing to about 3 m tall.
The leaves emerge in large numbers from ground level and are linear to lanceolate.
Inflorescences enclosed in boat-shaped bract sheaths are borne in turn in a panicle, forming a large inflorescence.
Each inflorescence bears 2 racemes, and in each raceme sessile and pedicellate spikelets are arranged in pairs.
The sessile spikelets are bisexual, and the florets usually have awns; the pedicellate spikelets are male and awnless.

[Uses]
Crushed leaves have a sweet, rose-like fragrance, and the essential oil is used as an aromatic plant.
