[Overview]
A perennial 35–100 cm tall, found in the shade of trees in the mountains.

The stem is erect and has spreading glandular hairs, and bulbils sometimes form at the base of the stem.
There are basal leaves and leaves arranged alternately on the stem; the stem leaves are clustered on the lower part of the stem.
The leaves are round-heart-shaped, 6–10 cm in both length and width, often palmately divided into 3–7 lobes, and have long leaf stalks.
Many flower heads are borne in a panicle on the upper part of the stem; they are 1.5 cm across, white to pale purple, and made up of 10–13 florets, and the tips of the ray florets are finely cut.
The involucre has glandular hairs.
The fruit is an achene with a pappus.
