Japanese name: ノースポールギク
Scientific name: Leucoglossum paludosum

Leucoglossum paludosum

[Overview]
A perennial about 15–30 cm tall.
In Japan it is treated as an annual sown in autumn.
It grows in a bushy mound.
The leaves are simple, alternate and pinnately cut.
The flowers are solitary flower heads at the stem tips; the ray florets are white and the tubular florets in the center are yellow.
The fruit is an achene.

[Cultivation]
Propagate from seed or by stem cuttings.
It prefers a sunny, well-drained place.
It is weak in heat and humidity.
Water thoroughly when the soil surface dries.
For plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
Take care, as excess moisture causes root rot.
Apply slow-release fertilizer as a base fertilizer, and during flowering give liquid fertilizer as additional fertilizer about twice a month to once every 10 days.
Removing spent flowers promptly keeps the plant from tiring.
Aphids can occur.
