Inula linariifolia ("Hosobaoguruma")
Japanese name: ホソバオグルマ (細葉小車)
Scientific name: Inula linariifolia
[Overview]
A biennial to perennial found in sunny wetlands, riverbanks and similar places.
It has a short rhizome.
It does not produce adventitious buds or overwintering stems.
The leaves are of two kinds, basal leaves and stem leaves, and the basal leaves often remain even at flowering.
The stem leaves are simple and alternate, lanceolate to linear, 5–10 cm long and 0.6–1 cm wide, and the base hardly clasps the stem.
In corymb-like inflorescences, yellow flower heads 1.8–2.5 cm across bloom facing upward.
The fruit is an achene.
