[Overview]
A monocarpic perennial found along mountain streams, in moist grasslands from the mountains to the subalpine zone, and on riverbeds in the north.
The stem is erect, branching in the upper part, and ridged.
The basal leaves have leaf stalks, are 6–12 cm long, and are pinnately lobed to completely divided, with 2–4 pairs of lateral leaflets; the terminal leaflet is elliptic to broadly ovate.
The upper stem leaves are alternate, and many of the uppermost are undivided simple leaves; they have no leaf stalks, and the leaf base clasps the stem with ear-like lobes.
The flowers are borne in racemes at the stem tips and are bright yellow with four petals.
The style is shorter than the ovary.
The fruit is 2–5 cm long and slightly square in cross section, with the seeds lined up in a single row inside.
The beak of the fruit is 0.5–1.2 mm long, with length and width equal.
