Arabis hirsuta ("Yamahatazao")

Japanese name: ヤマハタザオ (山旗竿)
Scientific name: Arabis hirsuta

[Overview]
A biennial 10–100 cm tall, found in sunny places such as grassland and woodland edges in hills and mountains.
The stem has simple hairs and stellate hairs, which are dense on the lower part.
The leaves are of two kinds, basal leaves and leaves alternate on the stem, and they are herbaceous.
The basal leaves form a rosette; they are spatulate, 2.5–10 cm long and 1–2.5 cm wide, with forked hairs on both sides.
The stem leaves are narrowly ovate, 1.5–7 cm long, and clasp the stem at the base.
The leaf margins have wavy teeth.
A raceme at the stem tip bears white flowers with 4 petals.
The fruit is a silique, long and linear, 2–6 cm long, hairless, and held upright along the axis of the inflorescence.
The inflorescence elongates when in fruit and makes up more than half of the plant's height.
