Platanthera sachalinensis

[Overview]
A perennial 40–60 cm tall, found in mountain forests, at forest edges, and in wetlands.
A terrestrial orchid.
Part of the roots is thickened into a spindle shape.
The stem is slightly ridged and has no wings.
The leaves are simple and alternate; the 2 on the lower part of the stem are large, oblong, 10–20 cm long, glossy on the upper surface, with entire margins.
The leaf bases form sheaths that clasp the stem.
The leaves on the upper part of the stem gradually become smaller and finally become scale-like.
A raceme bears many flowers rather densely.
The bracts are linear-lanceolate, without papillae on the margins.
The flowers are pale green, and the dorsal sepal and lateral petals form a hood.
The lip is broadly linear.
A spur 1.5–2 cm long extends behind the flower.
