Scientific name: Neolindleya camtschatica

Neolindleya camtschatica

[Overview]
A perennial 30–60 cm tall, found in moist places in forests in the subarctic to cool-temperate zones.
The roots are cord-like, partly thickened into a cylindrical shape, and extend horizontally.
The stem is cylindrical, thick, and erect.
There are 5–10 alternate leaves, elliptic, 7–15 cm long and 2–6 cm wide, with 3–5 conspicuous veins and wavy, crinkled margins.
The leaf bases clasp the stem.
A raceme bears many pale reddish-purple flowers.
The dorsal sepal and lateral petals surround the column.
The lip is broadly ovate with a 3-lobed tip.
The flower has a spur that curves markedly forward.
Bracts as long as the flowers are present.

[Cultivation]
It prefers partial shade and fertile, well-drained soil.
During the growing season, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries, pouring water gently at the base so that it does not wet the leaves.
In spring and autumn, give diluted liquid fertilizer once a week.
