Epipremnum aureum

[Overview]
An evergreen climbing perennial found in tropical rainforests.
It produces aerial roots, attaches itself to tree trunks and similar supports, and climbs as high as 20 m.
The leaves are alternate; on young plants they are heart-shaped, about 10 cm long and entire, while on mature plants they reach 75–100 cm in length and 45 cm in width, with deep, irregular pinnate cuts.
The flowers are borne on a spadix, and the inflorescence has a spathe about 20 cm long.
The fruit is a berry.
When grown indoors, it hardly ever flowers or sets fruit.

[Cultivation]
Propagate by cuttings.
It prefers well-drained, fertile soil and an environment with high humidity in the air.
In winter place it in a sunny spot indoors; in other seasons place it in partial shade.
For potted plants, water thoroughly from spring to autumn when the soil surface dries, and keep it on the dry side in winter.
Also mist the leaves with a sprayer.
From spring to autumn, apply slow-release fertilizer.
Pests and diseases include scale insects, spider mites, gray mold, powdery mildew and anthracnose.
