[Overview]
A perennial 15–55 cm tall, found in forests in the mountains, mainly in the beech zone.

There is usually 1 leaf, with 5–7 leaflets arranged like a bird's foot.
The leaflets are ovate to elliptic, 6–20 cm long and 1.5–10 cm wide, pointed, and entire.
The flower stalk is erect, lower than the leaf, and bears a spadix at its tip.
The appendage at the tip of the inflorescence is a green rod 2–5 cm long.
The spadix is enclosed by the spathe.
The spathe is glossy, yellowish green, green, purplish brown, purplish green or similar, with raised white longitudinal stripes; the limb is ovate with a pointed tip.
The fruit is an ovoid berry that ripens red.
