Nepeta ×faassenii

[Overview]
A perennial 30–60 cm tall, a hybrid of Nepeta racemosa and Nepeta nepetella.
The stems and leaves have white hairs and look whitish.
The stems branch well and are square in cross section.
The leaves are simple and opposite, ovate, with serrate margins.
Verticillasters at the stem tips bear many densely packed flowers.
The flowers are two-lipped and 5-lobed, with a spot in the center of the lower lip.
Flower colors include purple, pink and white.
The fruit is a schizocarp.

[Cultivation]
Propagate from seed, by division, or by shoot cuttings.
It prefers sunny, well-drained soil.
It is easy to grow.
Take care to avoid excess moisture when watering; for potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil dries, and for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
If base fertilizer is applied, no further fertilizer is particularly needed, but for potted plants, slow-release fertilizer may be placed on the soil in spring and autumn.
There are no particular pests or diseases.
