[Overview]
A perennial 60–70 cm tall.
It branches freely.
The leaves are simple and alternate, obovate to linear, with entire margins.
Three veins are conspicuous on the leaves.
Many flower heads about 1.3 cm across are borne in corymbs.
Both the ray florets and the tubular florets are yellow.
[Cultivation]
Propagate by division.
It prefers sunny, well-drained soil.
It is cold-hardy and heat-tolerant, tough and easy to grow.
For potted plants, water thoroughly when the soil surface dries; for plants in the ground, rainfall is sufficient.
If fertilizer is applied at planting, no further fertilizer is particularly needed, and too much can make the plant leggy and cause it to fall over.
Pests and diseases include spider mites and aphids.
[Notes]
It originated from an intergeneric cross between Aster and Solidago.
