A perennial 50–80 cm tall, found in wetlands in the mountains, often growing in colonies.

The stem leaves are simple and alternate, ovate-lanceolate, and clasp the stem at the base.
About 30 flower heads are borne at the stem tip in corymb-like to umbel-like arrangement.
The flowers consist of ray florets and tubular florets; the ray florets are yellow and 1.1–1.6 cm long.
