[Overview]
An evergreen perennial.
After flowering it sends out white stolons, which root at the nodes.
The leaves arise from the root as a rosette; they are 8–20 cm long, thick, and pinnately divided into 3–4 pairs of lobes.
The leaf lobes run down the leaf axis to form wings, and the margins have glandular projections.
The underside of the leaves is densely covered with white cottony hair, and the upper surface has glandular hairs.
A single bright golden flower head 4–7 cm across is borne at the tip of a long flower stalk.
The tubular florets are yellow.
The tips of the outer involucral bracts are somewhat thickened and have white cottony hair.
The fruit is an achene.

[History]
It has become naturalized as an alien species in various countries.
