[Overview]
A perennial 20–40 cm tall, found in subalpine wetlands, often forming colonies.
Thick rhizomes creep through the ground.
The leaves are simple and basal, reniform-orbicular, 3–10 cm in both length and width, thick, with a glossy upper surface.
The leaf tip is slightly notched.
The leaf margins have fine serrations.
The leaves have long petioles.
A cyme bears 10–30 flowers.
The flowers are white, about 1.2 cm across; the corolla is funnel-shaped and deeply 5-lobed.
The corolla margin has wavy wrinkles, and the tips curve back.
The fruit is a cylindrical capsule 1–1.5 cm long.

[Notes]
The Japanese name compares the shape of the leaves to ginkgo leaves.
